CONFIRMATION PROGRAM (GRADE 7-10)

The Confirmation Program is focused on preparing our youth for the sacrament of Confirmation and giving them more opportunities to continue growing closer to Jesus Christ.

Age Change

As of January 18, 2024, the Cardinal has changed the age of Confirmation from Grade 10 down to Grade 8. Read the letter here. All parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston are currently implementing this change over the next few years.

At St. Theresa (and St. John), we will be having Grade 7-10 register this Fall to see how many students we can expect for each grade. The plan is to at least confirm Grade 9 & 10 this Spring 2025. We are still figuring some details for Grade 7 & 8, but please go ahead and register and we will keep you updated!

We are here for you all during this transition. We are going to be very flexible these next two years as things are still being finalized and worked out. So please do not worry. Just reach out.

Two Year Program

Our Confirmation preparation is a two year program. However, Grade 9 will do a transitional one year program and be confirmed this Spring 2025 with Grade 10. Current plan is then for Grade 7 & 8 to attend together for “Confirmation- Year 1” this year. Again this is a big transition. Please reach out with questions and concerns.

Session Information

Normal sessions will meet about twice a month on Sunday evenings** at St. John’s in West Roxbury from 5:30-7 PM. Sessions run from October to April. We run a joint Confirmation program with St. John’s.

**We are currently working on a possible morning option for Grade 7 & 8. So they may have the option to come either in the morning or evening for their Confirmation session. There will be a place on the registration form to let us know if one works better for you or if either one is fine. We will keep you updated on this option.

Sessions begin on Sunday, October 6th.
